Creating a Streaming Video Game Service
Project Summary
The case study discusses a streaming video game service called Pure Genius, which provided gamers with access to their favorite games without the need for expensive hardware or downloads. The company's founders have experience in the gaming industry and designed a sleek and intuitive user interface for the platform. The branding team created a modern and futuristic brand identity, and the front-end development team used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create a responsive platform.
Introduction
In recent years, the video game industry has seen a significant shift towards streaming services. With the success of platforms like Twitch and YouTube Gaming, many developers and publishers are looking for ways to tap into this growing market.
This case study focuses on the development of a hypothetical streaming video game service called "Pure Genius". The goal of the service is to provide gamers with a platform where they can easily access and play the latest games, connect with other players, and compete in online tournaments.
After deciding what the user goals were I created a taxonomy that would encompass blogs, conferences, reports and publications. A simplified user experience was required from their existing site and then onto visual design concepts.
Games
One of the key features of Pure Genius is its extensive library of games. The service offers a wide range of titles across various genres, including action, adventure, strategy, and sports.
To make it easy for players to discover new games, the platform features a curated selection of titles that are updated regularly. Users can browse the library by genre, popularity, release date, and other criteria, and can even search for specific games using keywords.
Another key aspect of Pure Genius is its support for cross-platform play. This means that players can access their favorite games on any device, including PC, console, and mobile. This allows players to pick up where they left off, regardless of the device they are using.
Community
In addition to providing access to games, Pure Genius also focuses on building a strong community of gamers. The platform includes various social features that allow players to connect with each other and share their experiences.
For example, users can create profiles, follow other players, and join groups based on their interests and preferences. They can also participate in forums, chat rooms, and other online spaces where they can discuss games, strategies, and other topics.
In addition, Pure Genius also offers tools and features that support player-generated content. This includes tools for streaming, recording, and sharing gameplay, as well as features that allow players to create and share their own videos, screenshots, and other content.
Competition

The Results
Unfortunately, despite our efforts, the project never took off as we had hoped. We faced challenges with securing partnerships and funding, and were unable to compete with established gaming platforms. However, we learned valuable lessons and gained experience in the gaming industry.
